Five Hacks to a Healthy Body

Five Hacks to a Healthy Body

When people think of the word “health”, the first thing that comes to mind is exercise. However, you can’t exercise your way to health without making the right lifestyle choices. So here are five habits that you should adopt if you haven’t already.

Hack #1 – Hydrate your body

You may have heard this hack one too many times, but it’s that important. Hydration is vital for your health for many reasons, but this doesn’t mean that you need to chug gallons of water on an hourly basis. There are alternative ways to get hydrated from a variety of drinks to simple hydrating snacks. If you are active and sweat a lot, remember to replenish electrolytes by incorporating the right sports drinks. A good level of hydration will rein in raving appetites in addition to aiding basic bodily functions. If you need help keeping yourself hydrated, our Ozmo smart water bottle and water tracking app may be for you.

Hack #2 – Get your rest

Sleep often gets pushed down your priority list behind work, social activities, and exercise. However, our bodies cannot work without proper rest. Pay more attention to the amount and quality of sleep you are getting, and try not to compromise the rest you deserve. First, find a way to better balance your work and your life. If you’re having trouble falling asleep, follow these easy tips for better sleep every night. Your body will thank you, and you’ll feel much more revitalized and energetic.

Hack #3 – Stop counting calories

We know that calories jump out at you from those nutrition labels, but there is more to healthful foods than just low calories. After all, we are what we eat, right? The foods that we choose to feed to our bodies with influences our bodily functions in so many ways. The quality of food is important to you and your health, so stop counting calories and look at the ingredients, sugars and fat content, and how your food is cooked. Read about how you can start eating healthier with these three ways to replace your unhealthy habits.

Hack #4 – Remember: nobody’s perfect

There is nothing more discouraging than failing to keep your vow to never touch anything with sugar again. One of the biggest mistake made when trying to “go healthy” is setting unrealistic goals and making dramatic changes to your daily routines. Your brain is afraid of changes, so go for small steps towards a healthier diet and lifestyle. Instead of switching eating habits and exercise routines to whatever is hot on the Internet, try to find a lifestyle that best fits you. Most importantly, remember that no one is perfect, so don’t let that late-night snack haunt you in your nightmares. Just keep on walking towards your goal.

Hack #5 – We’re all in this together

Do you ever feel like your motivation level drops dramatically a couple of days after you have made the decision to lead a healthier lifestyle? You’re not the only one. Try finding friends who have similar goals with you. By adding a social element, the transition to a healthy lifestyle will be much smoother. If you can engage in healthy activities with a friend, you’ll find it easier to look forward to that workout and to say no to unhealthy food choices. You don’t have to pull through all by yourself. We’re all in this together.

Run into the wild or Sweat it out on the Treadmill?

Why run indoors?

Measured progress and performance

Machines available for indoor running allow you to measure your workout in a variety of different rates. You can easily measure your speed as well as see how long you’ve been running. The technology offers you access to numbers that are harder to track yourself, such as heart rate and calories burned. This information not only makes it easier to keep track of how you’re doing during your run, but it also gives you the ability to see how you’re improving over time in terms of speed, distance, and stamina. (You can also keep track of your hydration level with Ozmo’s water tracking app.)

Customized workout

Running on the treadmill allows you to have greater control over many factors of your workout. You can choose the precise steepness and speed, adjusting the intensity of your workout to fit your needs. Plus, you can be more flexible with your indoor running because you’re no longer restricted by time or weather. The slippery roads nor the lack of proper workout attire no longer stop you in your tracks to reaching your fitness goal if you choose to run indoors.

Why run outdoors?

Reduced stress levels

Running indoors may make it easier to control and track your workout, but taking your workouts comes with its own list of benefits. First of all, scientific research shows that in comparison to running on a treadmill, running outdoors is a much more effective way of relieving stress. A study by Duke University proved that people who ran outdoors not only showed better performance in terms of speed and stamina, but also felt better about their body and workout as a whole after the run. The results aren’t too hard to believe. Running along a beach watching a beautiful sunset is more than likely to be more pleasing than staring at the wall of a local gym.

More motivation

The beautiful scenery doesn’t just stop at reducing your stress. It works as a source of motivation. The changing scenery may not be as accurate as the time lapsed or distance covered on the treadmill console, but it is probably much more motivating. With a physical goal in mind, you will be encouraged to continue running ‘til the end.

Increased intensity

It is undeniable that running outdoors does make your plan vulnerable to a sudden change in weather, but a bit of rain shouldn’t stop you from stepping outdoors anyways. Wind, heat, cold, and even light rain may help you improve your fitness. These factors make it more difficult for your body to regulate normal processes, so your body will be more challenged than ever.

Just keep running!!

Whether it is indoors or outdoors, running is a healthy workout. It releases serotonin, the ‘happy emotion’ chemical, and increases blood flow to you brain. Plus, you will be able to reduce the risk of many diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and obesity. If the scenery outside is calling your name today, why not take a quick jog outdoors? And if the heavy rain is making you hesitate, then make a trip to the gym two blocks down instead. Don’t feel pressured to stick to just indoors and just outdoors, and be flexible! Just enjoy the physical workout and mind break wherever your body may take you today.

Remember that staying hydrated is extremely important during and after your workout. Learn more about how to stay hydrated while running here.

How can integrating Ozmo with fitbit help me stay active?

How can integrating Ozmo with fitbit help me stay active?

Staying active and supporting a healthy lifestyle can be difficult, especially while juggling home and work responsibilities. That’s why the use of apps and other tech tools to make fitness easier have been on the rise. Fitbit data keeps track of your movement and calories burned, giving you a complete view of your body’s movement in a day. A great addition to the Fitbit is the Ozmo Smart Cup. Experts agree that one of the most important parts of staying healthy is drinking enough water. This smart cup does the math for you and helps you stay hydrated all day. Here are five ways that linking the Ozmo smart cup with your Fitbit data will help you stay active:

  1. Having water on hand automatically causes you to drink more.

Simply having a water bottle nearby is enough for most people to think about their water consumption more, and stay hydrated as a result. The Ozmo cup is BPA free and completely reusable, so it’s a safe option to have on hand.

  1. Ozmo does the math for you.

Ozmo takes the guesswork out of hydration by using your weight and activity level to determine how much water your body really needs. It tracks your movement and gives updates after workouts, and throughout the day to make sure you’re hydrated. You can view your daily goals on the app and track your progress. There’s even a three light indicator system to show when you’ve completed 20%, 50%, and 90% of your daily water goal.

  1. Reminders help keep you on track.

Your Ozmo will send you a notification if you’ve gone too long without drinking water, so even the busiest person can remember to stay hydrated. You can personalize the amount and frequency of your water consumption and the app will keep you on track. Having the app keep track for you gives you one less thing to think about while you’re trying to maintain a more active life.

  1. It updates based on your movement.

Linking your Ozmo and your Fitbit allows you to have a full and complete view of your body’s needs. While the Fitbit tracks every step and workout, the Ozmo recalculates to make sure you get enough water to replenish your body. The two apps work together seamlessly to make it easy to stay hydrated.

  1. It tracks coffee as well as water.

While it is wise to limit coffee consumption, it can be difficult to monitor, especially for those with a coffee pot only a few feet from our desks. Ozmo knows whether you’re drinking coffee or water, and will automatically track coffee for you. You can set personalized goals, or let Ozmo decide the perfect amount of coffee to drink while still being hydrated. A simple notification will let you know when you’ve reached your limit and should switch to water.

Tracking your movement and staying hydrated are two of the most important things to do while trying to stay active. Add in a healthy diet along with the Ozmo cup and Fitbit data, and you’ll have a simple and active life without thinking about it. Using these apps together removes the guesswork and makes hydration automatic, so your body will get all the water it needs to keep going. The Ozmo cup is perfect for those on the go because it’s leak proof and fits in car and bike cup holders. Enjoy the ease of automatic reminders to stay hydrated, and the benefits of added energy and weight loss by using the Ozmo cup to keep on top of your hydration.

Happy 2016 Ozmonians!

Losing weight
Losing weight can be tough but it takes a certain mindset to keep off the weight too. If you want to lose weight this 2016 start by slowly changing your lifestyle. Every month attempt to cut out something: soft drinks, sugary food, junk food. And same with exercise start small, have a stroll around the park and start to jog once you get more comfortable. Also since we now have so many wireless devices you can use Fitbit to keep track of your activeness and Ozmo to keep track of how much water you drink a day – because we all know water is always the better alternative compared to other beverages.

Staying off your phone
This is the real kick of 2016, more and more people are realising how dependent they are on their phones: in awkward situations, to simply past the time. How do we counteract this? Well start off by switching off your phone, seriously try it and do something. Anything that doesn’t require a computer, go to the gym, bake, write in a journal, practice yoga or read a book. Do something that you find calming. When you are hanging out with friends or family have a pact to put everyone’s phones in the centre of the table, first one who reaches out to their’s gets to pay the bill. It really helps all of you to have more conversations instead of constantly just being one your phone. You meet up with your loved ones for a reason to spend quality time with them.

Breaking out of your comfort zone
Leaving your comfort zone is a huge step in taking a leap in life. It requires you to change your habit, to change your life! What do you want to achieve in life? Are you happy the way you are now? If not change the way you are living, life is too short to wonder. Just do what you want to do! If you would like to take up a new hobby make time for it each week and practise. The more you practise the better you get at it. If you want to be more sociable, get into more activities and start talking with people. Approach others first, ask them questions about their lives – you will be surprised how open people actually are.

2016 are filled with possibilities for everyone. Let’s make this year count! What are your resolutions for 2016? Share it with us and we will be happy to comment. Thank you again for being so supportive this year. Happy holidays!
